How to Deal with Bank Charges and Be Successful
We often view banks as very trustworthy and we put our outmost trust to them. But we should always be critical of what we are paying for and how much should we be charged. Especially now, that it is very common for banks to betray the trust of the people through giving out unfair bank charges. Here is an article that covers all of the basics of the bank charges. It also shows the legal actions that one could take when faced with illegal or unlawful bank charges.
Every time we go to the bank, we go through bank charges. It is simply inevitable, but there are some bank charges that are unfair and are ridiculous. If you have been charged by your bank and you don’t understand why, you might have grounds for reclaiming those charges.
Currently, there is a court case in progress to decide if banks are really making money from unfair bank charges, mis sold mortgages, and mis sold PPI’s. Banks currently are not liable to pay back bank charges that are deemed unfair and unlawful. With the exception of one thing, bank error. This would only be the case that a bank would repay bank charges.
For banks do have errors from time to time, but this is very rare. What is also very rare is the chance of an illegal bank charges is caused by a bank error. Bank errors are commonly caused by employees’ mistakes which could be directly reflected in the bank charges of the customers. An example of what is classed to be a bank error is when you have a packaged account with that account you would be paying for a monthly charge (this kind of account would also get you benefits and discounts). When you decide that you would like to convert this account to a standard account free from the perks and discounts, you have to talk to your bank.
After signing all the paperwork for the removal or conversion of the packaged account and in return for this you would be getting a receipt. If you still get charged for the same packaged account that you have already converted, this would then be bank error. This would then entitle you to reclaim bank charges.
There are also other causes of bank charges. One of these causes is the debit card. This is because most people are unaware that even if they don’t have the funds the debit card would still be accepted. This would in return generate massive bank charges that you are not aware of and have not agreed beforehand with the bank.
This just shows that banks should be kept a close eye on because you might pay for it big time because of bank charges. We often view banks as very trustworthy and we put our outmost trust to them. But we should always be critical of what we are paying for and how much should we be charged.
